Vietnam & Cambodia April 22 - May 9, 2017
April 22 - Using Hanoi as our 'hub', we spend the first days exploring the Old City, Duong Lam, and Tay Phuong Pagoda.There will be many opportunities for street photography and witnessing the daily life of the Vietnamese. You will experience local markets, visit pagodas, cyclo and bicycle rides into villages and neighborhoods that are authentic and non-touristy.
April 25 - 27 We cruise in Halong Bay aboard the Dragon Pearl Junk, visiting islands, caves, beaches and photographing the magnificent scenery of the bay. After debarking from the junk, we visit the small village of Tho Ha, in the Red River delta, once famous for its terracotta coffin production, now used to construct walls in the village.
April 27 - 30 Hue is famous for its Imperial Citadel, pagodas and bridges on the Perfume River. There will also be opportunities to travel outside of the city to smaller villages, boat cruises to remote lagoons and beautiful scenery.
April 30 - May 3 Hoi An - Great people photography the early morning fish market as fish mongers and buyers negotiate their purchases. There will be many opportunities to walk around this ancient town with many canals and waterways. The architecture is a mix of French Indochinese, Chinese and indigenous Vietnamese, as is the history of the town. At night, the old town is lit up with lanterns, and there are floating lanterns on the river
May 3 - 6 Ho Chi Min City (Saigon) exploration; Cai Lay floating market & Can Tho
May 6- 9 Siem Reap, Cambodia Visits to the ancient temples of Ankgor Wat, Tah Prohm, Angkor Thom, Banteay Srei and Bantay Samrei. We will spend a morning photographing Chong Knies, a floating village on Tonle Sap, the largest fresh water lake in Southeast Asia.
